Current Erasmus+ Projects

As part of our work on a European-level, The Rural Hub participates in Erasmus+ funded initiatives which aim to address issues affecting rural communities; such as a need for increased digital literacy of residents, the challenge of retraining older employees approaching retirement age, the importance of integrating migrant communities in all aspects of social and civic life and the need to support youth entrepreneurship as a means of counteracting high levels of rural depopulation. In response to these issues, The Rural Hub has been successful in securing funding under the Erasmus+ Programme through the following projects:

EGD4cities takes inspiration from existing initiatives, aiming to implement a general concept and approach to greening human capital and economy referred to the wider approach to sustainability introducing skills linked to the transition to a circular and greener economy. The project has the specific objective to enhance the required green skills for workforce by improving its technical capacities, knowledge, values and attitudes to develop and support sustainable social, economic and environmental outcomes in business, industry and the community.

Generally, the project is meant to get involved local authorities which are in charge of a variety of environmental services related to noise or air pollution, waste disposal, consumer education and protection, or city planning which directly affect the health of local citizens and impact the environment. The project's specific goal is to capacitate local authorities staff and NGO leaders for change engagement, developing green sectoral skills and fostering leadership skills, creativity, socio-educational and professional development, through Local Authorities’ and NGOs’ action.

Its specific objectives are to help these target groups to keep up-to-date with science and policy on EU level, as well as to enhance their competences in various sustainability-relevant sectors by improving and extending the supply of high quality learning opportunities for adults, under the perspective of lifelong learning.

SAFE YOUTH focuses on supporting and empowering youth workers combating the social obstacles young people face nowadays, because of their gender, sexual orientation and mental health status and help youth to build resilience and improve their well-being.

This EU perspective will target needs in the participating partner countries, and support the sharing of lessons and experiences from working with youth workers and youth in order to ensure that young people-especially marginalised- are well equipped with the knowledge and the skills required for sharing their opinion concerning their own sexual health rights and interests; have better mental health; and fight stigma and discrimination.

SAFE YOUTH will raise awareness, educate, and support key stakeholders, youth workers and youth (including marginalised youth) throughout Europe regarding the importance of sexuality education, mental health and well- being of youth. The active involvement of youth workers will empower the field of youth work and lead young people to a more socially inclusive environment.

Digital Literacy is increasingly becoming an essential life skill and the inability to access or use ICT has effectively become a barrier to social integration and personal development.

The VINYL WARRIORS project proposes to develop an embedded learning training programme for seniors that encourages them to recover their musical youth. In the course of the project activities, participants will learn key digital skills to enable them to record in audio and video the musical performance they enact. In this pilot phase, a minimum of 20 seniors in each country will be engaged in producing the proposed musical performance and building their digital skills.

The HANGOUT project aims to re-engage NEETs and marginalised young people into education by developing innovative, non-formal learning programmes that attract even the most reluctant learners and set them on their path to fulfilment and inclusion. To achieve this, the HANGOUT consortium will work with adult and community educators who are at the front-line of second-chance education and provide them with essential continuous professional development training. This training will support them to deliver digital media skills training to NEETs as a means of re-engaging them in mainstream education, as well as their pedagogic skills to integrate embedded learning, challenge-based learning, digital tools and social media into their teaching practice. Through building their digital competences, adult educators will be better equipped to engage NEETs remotely, thereby overcoming several barriers to classroom-based participation by providing them access to an online site of interactive and engaging digital resources.

The project will produce a comprehensive mapping report, a handbook of good practices, and promote outcomes through activities and events. These efforts aim to enhance institutional capacity, professional competencies, and intercultural cooperation, ultimately contributing to sustainable development and climate resilience in rural areas.

The FARCE project aims to propose a new, ‘infotainment’ based approach by re-calibrating today's negative news flow. The term NEET gathers a multitude of individuals under its classification. It broadly includes adults between the ages of 20 and 34 years who are on the margins of mainstream society.

NEET-IDEA is primarily a project about developing specific key transversal skills; building self-confidence; taking responsibility; working in a team environment; being respected and respecting others, all key skills for inclusion. As Woody Allen once said "...everybody wants to be in the movies..." and the NEET- IDEA project will give young digital natives the opportunity to be part of a film crew in a role that fits their personal preferences or personalities. This is the way to achieve the inclusion and up-skilling of NEETS that partners are proposing.

The PLANet B project will develop an in-service training programme for front-line youth professionals to enable them integrate the new Digital Breakout resources into their everyday activities. In-service training will place a significant emphasis on challenge-based education; team based learning and the use of online resources. A key element of the in-service training will be enabling front-line youth workers to deliver the PLANet B climate change education program and develop their own Digital Breakout.

The PLANet B in-service curriculum will include a PLANet B training guideline with an explicit set of Learning Outcomes for each learning unit and a tutor manual, the latter enclosing contents about each Learning Unit subject; what it is, why is it important, relation to other learning units and to the PLANet B Digital Breakouts, assessment framework.

A bespoke compendium of Digital Breakout resources will be scripted, designed and developed. These resources will use an embedded learning approach to build research and critical thinking skills of young people

It is accepted that people gaining qualifications has an impact on economic growth, and on promoting social inclusion and sustainable employment. Nowadays, there are no jobs for life, therefore lifelong learning (LLL) is crucial for people to acquire the necessary skills to stay employable. More than ever, LLL is the key to face globalisation and its challenges.

This is exactly the focus of the project aimed to define and validate innovative models, approaches and tools supporting personalized, active and engaging adult learners' personal development processes, based on self-awareness, reflective and participate based learning models, preventing ESL and NEET phenomena, contemporaneously addressing:

Adults’ engagement and motivation by implementing self-awareness/evaluation tools, inclusive guidance and learning solutions supporting reflective, engaging and active behaviours;

Trainers guidance and learning role empowerment: by adopting the new framework for Competences which are defined as a combination of knowledge, skills and attitudes appropriate to the context. Key competences are those which all individuals need for personal fulfillment and development, active citizenship, social inclusion and employment.

The RoboGirls project focuses on building the capacity of teacher educators to organise and implement innovative hands-on STEAM activities and events(such as lesson plans, workshops, thematic school days) with the use of robotics and coding to narrow the gender gap, empower, encourage and actively engage girls to digital technologies so to be able to act and play an active role in the digital age. Through the empowerment of girls, their self-esteem and confidence in relation to the use and capabilities they think they have towards digital technologies will be enhanced, making them consider following a relevant career in the future and be active in the future of the digital sector. To achieve that, RoboGirls consortium will develop innovative pedagogical material, dynamic resources, gamified tools, and organise and implement and a series of blended learning trainings, events and implementations for teachers and students.

The target groups of the project are teachers, primary and secondary students, school leaders, school staff, academics, women in the ICT sectors and digital technologies, education policy decision makers, volunteers, and parents in a participatory and empowering manner.

The iWell project focuses on empowering primary school students, aged 9 – 12, to lead a healthy online life and boost their social well-being. The SOMRA project offers an innovative approach to tackle two major challenges of the 21st century, namely climate change and refugee crises, by engaging refugees, asylum seekers and low-qualified migrants in meaningful occupations that transform them into environment role models with a sustainable impact in their new and previous home. The main idea of the SOMRA approach is to enable these main target groups to become true factors of change that influence positive environmental habits that are first established on a local and regional level, and eventually even beyond the borders of the EU.

Therefore, the SOMRA project will pursue the following objectives:

Facilitating environmental change on local and regional level through grassroots activities organised by green NGOs and the SOMRA participants

Fostering common values and civic engagement of migrant communities in their new environment

Offering low-threshold learning opportunities related to environmental measures that increase the employability by strengthening key competences for low-qualified migrants, refugees and asylum seekers.

The FINER - Find Your Inner Power - project aims to address the mental and physical well-being of young adults in the post-pandemic society. Its core objective is to support young people in their communities to engage in citizen journalism, to counter the narratives of other religions that are presented in the mainstream media, and to harness the potential of social media platforms to promote cultural and religious tolerance across Europe.
